Skin Lightening and Firming Natural Face Mask
Turmeric has so many health benefits as well as being a great ingredient to add to you skin-care regime.
Turmeric contains compounds called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin.
How Can Turmeric Help Your Skin?
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits, turmeric works wonders on irritated skin. It can also help reduce redness from blemishes and calm skin conditions like eczema and rosacea. Turmeric is also excellent for acne prone skin because it is a natural antiseptic and helps to keep bacteria from spreading.
How I Use Turmeric
So there you go, it’s good for all sorts of reasons. I use it for 7 days in succession and then stop for a few weeks. I find this really helps my skin and is the best way to lighten skin damage and reduce redness that can come from spots or general irritation.
As you will know, I use retin-a so my skin is prone to dryness. Turmeric doesn’t moisturise but it does make the skin feel incredibly soft which in turn helps it’s overall appearance.
- 1 teaspoon of dried turmeric
- 1 tablespoon of natural yogurt
- 1 splash of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of honey
Does Turmeric Stain The Skin?
ummm, yep. Sorry, it really does. There are no two ways about it. However, the benefits outweigh the slight inconvenience. That’s all it is really, a little bit inconvenient.
Don’t use this mask before going to work or popping out to the shops…
Apply it in the evening. Ideally you would have a shower right after. The steam and the water combined, releases it as it opens the pores. Rub gently with a flannel.
The Morning After Skin Care
This is when you will want to check your hair-line! It tends to sit there quite happily unless you rub fairly hard at it.
Cleanse and moisturise, then apply your SPF. You are good to go. Hopefully your skin should be feeling super-soft and you’ll have a radiant glow 🙂
